History of Nieco
1905 - Creation of Nieco
Golden Rule Metal Products,” a sheet metal company, was founded in 1905 in San Francisco, CA. It was purchased by “Power Refrigeration” owner Gene Larson in 1967 and renamed “National Industrial Equipment Co.” AKA: Nieco Corporation

1969 - Prototype
Nieco’s first automatic broiler was prototyped & designed in 1969, when Disneyland expressed interest in the machine. That same year, the first Nieco broiler was installed in Disneyland’s “Tomorrowland Terrace”. To this day, there is still a Nieco automatic broiler operating in Tomorrowland Terrace, along with countless other restaurants in Disney parks worldwide.
1974 - Expansion
After learning of the new broiling technology, Carl’s Jr. adopted their first Nieco broiler in 1970. Burger King was not far behind, receiving approval of the Nieco broiler in 1974 and installing their first unit in Sacramento, CA

2001 - Move to Windsor, CA
After building and developing this new broiling technology in Burlingame for almost 20 years, Nieco moved 1 hour north of San Francisco, CA to Windsor, CA. We are currently operating on 5 acres, with 60,000 square feet of manufacturing and 15,000 square feet of office space right in the heart of wine country.
2009 - BroilVection™ Technology
Nieco’s trademarked term, BroilVection™, was introduced to the market in 2009, along with our revolutionary JF series line-up. A combination of broiling and convection, BroilVection™ includes a new burner system that recycles energy to improve broiler performance, adds flexibility, and saves a large amount of energy. It is currently installed in all of the JF series to provide you with the top of the line broiling experience.

2012 - Acquisition by Middleby Corporation
After 45 years of being a privately owned company, Nieco was purchased by Middleby Corporation in 2012. Currently the world’s largest foodservice conglomerate, Middleby owns and operates foodservice distributors all around the world and was named one of the “Fastest Growing Companies” by Fortune Magazine in 2014.
Today
